There are so many great blogs out there full of amazing design resources, tutorials for hand-lettering and freelance business advice, but sometimes don’t you just want an old-fashioned book? I still love flipping through and bookmarking pages for inspiration. I’ve included some of my favorite graphic design related books here, all of these graphic design books would also make amazing gifts for the creative types in your life!
The Best Graphic Design Books:
Type Rules:The Designer’s Guide to Professional Typography
Hi Ciera,
You said it. Sometimes reading the old-fashioned way, i.e.book-form, and flipping through its pages, brings a sense of happiness. Not biased at all, coming from a booklover like myself 🙂
Oh, man. I’m really going to have to show this list to my wife. Been looking for some new reading material – and some of these look pretty terrific. “Steal Like an Artist” is excellent.
I’m typically a Mad Magazine kinda guy – but I’m also a bit of a geek for design business books. Thanks for the list! Gonna be a great Christmas!
Ah! I love real books as resources too. There’s just something about having a tangible thing that makes it so much better. That thinking with type book, steal like an artist and the losing your soul one are all on my bookshelf, they are so great. Have you read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert yet? If not it is a must read for creatives! Thanks for sharing, I am going to check out a few of those I haven’t read yet.
#6 is one of my all-time favorites – extremely practical and energizing advice. I’ll have to check out some of these other ones I haven’t seen, thank you for the round up! 🙂
