As I mentioned in January’s Made In Mind meet-up recap, we used this time to celebrate our accomplishments from 2014 and to set our most ambitious goals for 2015. We all displayed our goals and it was really great to see everyone’s enthusiasm for the new year!
Then Kristy and I, along with Justin from Invade NOLA, announced our plans for 2015… that we will be holding New Orleans’ First Creative Entrepreneur Conference!
It’s crazy to think that it was a year and a half ago when I was telling y’all about my new venture, The Made In Mind Social. Ten meet-ups later, I felt that it was time to take it to the next level!
So far, we’ve created the event framework, divvied up tasks, are scouting locations and pulling together equally enthusiastic volunteers interested in being a part of something bigger. We are ambitiously working to build a killer conference!
Now, we are asking for your help in picking the perfect name and are starting to build volunteer teams to make this dream a reality! If you are interested just fill out this form, it takes 1 sec and we’d love your input.
Also, if you have any tips we’d love to hear them… (locations, things you like at other conferences, things you don’t like, sponsorships).
I am not sure if I clicked “volunteer” the first time i voted on the name so I just did it again. Not 100% sure I will be able to volunteer, but I would love more info when the time comes. I am VERY excited someone is planning an event like this! I am going to Craftcation Conference (http://craftcationconference.com/) In Ventura, CA March 25th-29th so perhaps I can take notes too and help get some ideas. This is the 2nd year I have gone and i just loved it! But I would love there to be something closer to home. Good luck with the planning!
I’m pretty sure I already filled out the form when Kristy sent it out via email a few days ago – I’d definitely love to get involved! I’m heading to Texas Style Council (http://www.texasstylecouncil.com) in March – I went a few years back, and it’s one of my favorite conferences, so I will take notes and let you know if I come back with any ideas for you!
Kristy mentioned a couple of the venues y’all were looking into and the ones I was familiar with sounded great. Depending on the format and what types of content you’re looking to have at the conference, I’d love to help out with that aspect. I developed the “Tech School” second stage of hands-on social media & blogging panels at the Rising Tide Conference here in NOLA in 2011-2012 (http://risingtidenola.com/history.php) and I regularly have to give presentations / do client training on SEO, WordPress, and other tech-y things at my day job at FSC Interactive. (I bet I could get some of my co-workers on board too.)
I can’t wait to see how this progresses! Let me know what I can do to help.
All of this sounds great Mallory! We’ll be in touch soon once we start working all these details out!
I’m super excited about this and I think it’s much needed in New Orleans! I’ve never been to a conference before so I don’t have any specific tips, but I’d love to volunteer when the time comes.
So good to hear! Did you check the little box that you were interested in helping so we can make sure to have you on that list? Super excited!
Yes I did! Looking forward to it!
