YLC Logo and Gala Invitation Design

Posted August 12th, 2011 in Art & Design, Graphic Design Work, Invitations by Ciera

The YLC has maintained its tradition of highlighting 25 members of the community each year since its inception in 1986. I designed the invitation set for the Young Leadership Council 2010 Role Model Awards Gala and was thrilled when they asked me to design the items for the gala again this year! I also designed a 25th anniversary variation of the YLC logo which is used on the gala items. It will also be incorporated into their branding for the upcoming year as they celebrate!

Working with the Young Leadership Council

Posted September 8th, 2010 in Art & Design, Blog by Ciera

The Young Leadership Council (YLC) is a non-profit organization created to develop leadership and generate a positive impact on the quality of life in the New Orleans region through volunteer-created community projects.

When I  joined the YLC in March of 2009, I wanted to get involved in something to help the city I love. I imagined that I would be working with a program like Park It, a beautification program that works to clean up neighborhood parks. As a designer, I stare at a computer screen all day – I wanted to get outside and get my hands dirty.

Once I became a member, project leaders started contacting me to help with their design and marketing needs. Over the past year, I have teamed up with numerous projects of the YLC in order to help them effectively communicate to their audiences by creating sales tools, invitations, signage and web graphics. Some of the projects that I have worked with are: A Streetcar Named Inspire, Where Ya’ Rack, Role Models Gala and One Book, One New Orleans.

My role as a YLC volunteer has not been at all what I imagined it would be, but so much more! I really enjoy being involved in so many projects and working with so many great people who have the same love for New Orleans. I have still not gotten my hands dirty, but I am thrilled that I have been able to share my talents with such a great group of people and for a great cause! View some of my YLC work.

YLC Role Model Gala – Invitation Design

Posted August 6th, 2010 in Blog, Graphic Design Work, Invitations, Lagniappe by Ciera

The Young Leadership Council has maintained its tradition of highlighting 25 members of the community each year since its inception in 1986. Role Models are selected each year by a committee comprised of past Role Model honorees and members of the YLC’s Board of Directors.

Honorees have distinguished themselves by: promoting a positive attitude and an unyielding desire to enhance the quality of life in our community; striving to unite our community in collaborative efforts for its future prosperity; serving as an exemplary role model to young talent in the community; taking an effective and vigorous leadership role in the community; and/or making significant contributions in their specific fields of endeavor. The 24th Annual YLC Role Model Gala is set for Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. Visit the YLC website for more information and to purchase tickets.

Take a look at the invitation that I designed for this years event!

UPDATE: This Young Leadership Council Gala Invitation was featured on FPO, a blog dedicated to both the visual stimulus and the detailing of the development and production of printed matter.

One Book, One New Orleans – 2010 Poster Design

Posted July 13th, 2010 in Blog, Graphic Design Work, Poster Design by Ciera

The 2010 book announced!

It is “Satchmo: My Life in New Orleans” by Louis Armstrong.

One Book, One New Orleans is a community wide reading program of the Young Leadership Council and the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans.

During a reading period every year, One Book encourages residents of the
Greater New Orleans Area aged 16 years and older to engage in the common endeavor of reading the same book at the same time. Their aim is that through this shared experience, residents from the different communities of Greater
New Orleans come together and embrace their similarities by reading, discussing, and attending events relating to the same book.
